Innovative Healing

When Atlanta Innovative Medicine decided to rebrand in 2019, they wanted their patients to know one thing: that everything was about to get even better.

While the brand underwent a facelift of new colors, a logo and an updated name to reflect the innovative direction they were heading in the practice of regenerative medicine, they closed their two smaller clinics and reopened in a new, 5,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility. This new space gave their team of medical experts the room to bring all of their treatments under one roof, with the addition of bringing in new aesthetic procedures.

Regenerative medicine focuses on the body’s natural healing process. At Atlanta Innovative Medicine (AIM), the focus is primarily on nonsurgical joint and spine pain. Some of the practice’s more popular treatments include PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy, which injects the patient’s own plasma back into problem areas to stimulate healing; autologous adipose stem cell therapy that uses a person’s own stem cells, taken from their fat, to repair an injured or aging joint; prolotherapy, a nonsurgical injection that works to stimulate the body’s ability to repair itself; and prolozone therapy, which utilizes the same technology, but with a concentrated oxygen-ozone injection that gets to the root of the problem and fixes it, rather than masking the symptoms. In addition to these regenerative therapies, the office also provides chiropractic services, physical therapy and general nonsurgical orthopedic care.

“Our objective is to complement multiple facets of patient care with our version of integrative, holistic healthcare,” says Dr. Farhan Malik, AIM’s medical director. “We are able to attack the problem from multiple angles, so we get the best results for our patients.” Those results help increase a patient’s function and mobility, decrease their pain, and ultimately, get them back to life, back to work and back to doing the things they love. “Our approach is different,” says the practice’s case manager, Dr. Tara Frix. “We have a team of specialists and our patients get the benefit of those specialists being under one roof and being able to sit down together to have a comprehensive review of exam findings, MRI reports or x-rays. You get everybody’s expertise working on a patient together, which ultimately eliminates the need for referrals and
hopping around to multiple doctors’ offices.”

The difference is having a cohesive, integrative team that works endlessly to help patients feel better faster. In fact, many patients walk in the door because surgery hasn’t worked to correct their pain, but some patients actually cancel surgery to try AIM’s non-invasive approach first. With more than 450 five-star Google reviews, their reputation speaks for itself. “Patients are human beings, each one a unique individual with their own set of extenuating circumstances,” says Dr. Frix. More importantly, it’s not just about medical procedures at AIM. “We arm our patients with actionable information on self-care for their joints or other affected areas so they can actively participate in their own healing process. While the vast majority of our patients achieve fantastic results, on rare occasions, we will try additional treatments to get the best results possible and for that reason, we may do so at no charge. We can’t guarantee results, but we go as far as we can to help them.”

Feeling Good Inside and Out
One of the goals of Atlanta Innovative Medicine’s rebranding was to add nonsurgical aesthetic procedures to their list of services. They ticked that box in October of last year with the addition of Theressa Thomas, NP-C, to their team. Along with anti-wrinkle injections, facial fillers and PRP for hair restoration, Theressa also brings PRP for facial rejuvenation. “Like the way PRP can stimulate healthy tissue repair after an injury, our PRP facial stimulates collagen production to plump, smooth and lift in different areas,” says Theressa of the popular, minimally invasive procedure.

“Because platelets contain things called growth factors when you inject those back into the face, they stimulate collagen production to give a more rested and youthful appearance.” By adding Theressa and her aesthetic talents to the team, Atlanta Innovative Medicine rounds out their objective of overall patient wellness by helping patients look as young on the outside as they now feel on the inside.
