Katie Cofer Irvine, a fourth-generation member of the Tucker-Stone Mountain lumber and hardware staple Cofer Brothers, has spent her life immersed in the family business. Having worked in various roles throughout the years (sales and event planning to the front desk and more) alongside her dad, grandfather, uncles and cousins, she values the relationships her family has worked to build with customers, vendors and their employees. Today, she brings a fresh perspective to the family business while upholding the traditions that have sustained Cofer Brothers for over a century.
What drives you, professionally?
Katie Cofer Irvine: Family legacy is a big motivator for me. I’m proud to carry on what my family started more than a hundred years ago, and having Jake (my husband) by my side adds a whole new layer to it. It’s not just work — it’s our shared future. We both want to see Cofer Brothers continue to thrive, adapt and stay true to the same values it was founded on: honesty, hard work, integrity and taking care of people.
What is your favorite way that Cofer Brothers gives back?

KCI: Cofer Brothers has always believed in giving back — whether it’s supporting local schools, sponsoring youth sports, the boy scouts or helping with community events. My favorite part is seeing our team show up to lend a hand when someone needs it. It’s never about recognition; it’s about showing up for the community that’s supported us for over 100 years.
What does it mean to be part of the community as a long-time staple?
KCI: Tucker and Stone Mountain have this small-town feel with a big heart. Everyone knows each other, and there’s a real sense of pride here. Being part of a family business that’s been around for so long means we’re woven into the story of this place — it’s something we’re incredibly proud of. What we do literally helps build our community.
Where can people spot you most out and about?
KCI: You can usually find me at Matthews Cafeteria, Ford’s BBQ, The Local No. 7 or Las Colinas. When the weather’s nice, we love Main Street, going to the farmers market and catching up with friends around town. My dad has helped put on the Tucker Cruise In for about 18 years now. I love being a part of the car show with him for so many years!
