As Buford High School’s varsity softball coach, Trent Adams has led athletes to claim 17 All-State honors, including eight who have played at a collegiate level. That player success is part of what drives Adams to be the coach he is, but he’ll tell you it’s the relationships that come out of coaching those kids that he cares about most. Today, he’s a beloved member of the Buford community, his wife by his side as the softball team’s biggest fan, his daughter on the sidelines helping him coach and his son right across the way, teaching at Buford Senior Academy. A family affair, they’re raring to get back on the field this season and reclaim what he knows this team can do.
What do you love about coaching at Buford?

Trent Adams: At Buford, we are one big family. I have always noticed that a lot of times we will go on the road and have more people there than the home team. That tells you a lot about the support our programs have.
What are you most proud of since you started coaching?
TA: I am most proud of the relationships I have built with players over the years. I think you have done it right when you get text messages from previous players just checking in or asking for advice on something. When you and your wife are invited to weddings, baby showers or to play golf…that is what is special to me.
What’s most rewarding to see as a coach?
TA: I like when I see the things we work on at practices come together in a game. I also love to hear other players supporting other players because we talk a lot about being a good teammate and having the best team chemistry possible.
Where can people find you most?
TA: When I am not on the softball field or baseball field (or at the concession stand), I enjoy playing tennis, golf and pickleball. We love to go to Italian Pie or just hang out at home, because, honestly, coaching is a long day!
